Centenary celebrations of Krishi Pandit Gammani Anandarao held with reverence* - Palla Srinivasa Rao pays homage to the industrialist-philanthropist who transformed lives through toil and social service
The centenary celebrations of noted industrialist and philanthropist Krishi Pandit Gammani Anandarao were held with solemnity and grandeur at Kapileswaram village in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district on Saturday.
The day began with the unveiling of a statue of the late Anandarao at the village library, where floral tributes were offered in his memory. This was followed by a series of public welfare initiatives, including the inauguration of a computer laboratory at the SS ZP High School, the commissioning of advanced diagnostic equipment such as a 2D ECHO machine and thyroid testing apparatus at the community hospital, the dedication of a Hindu crematorium, and the awarding of scholarships to meritorious students.
Addressing the gathering as chief guest, State Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president and Gajuwaka legislator Palla Srinivasa Rao described Anandarao as “a man who rose from the modest confines of a farmer’s household to emerge as a pioneering industrialist of rare distinction.” He recalled that Anandarao, despite amassing significant wealth, remained deeply rooted in simplicity and channelled his resources towards village development and public welfare, earning him the epithet Krishi Pandit.
“Through the establishment of a mini steel plant and electrical units, Anandarao provided livelihoods to thousands. During the pandemic, he extended support worth ₹70 lakh in the form of oxygen cylinders and medical facilities. He personally funded roads, a market yard, a library, and several other civic amenities. His life is a testament to service through action, not words,” Mr. Srinivasa Rao observed. He further noted that the continued commitment of Anandarao’s family to carrying forward his legacy of social service is a matter of pride for the community. “Memories of such towering figures will continue to inspire generations,” he added.
