The Department of Biochemistry, St. Joseph’s College for Women (A),, organized a Nutritional Science Expo as part of the 5th semester students’ curriculum. The students demonstrated methods to calculate Body Mass Index (BMI) and explained how to manage it effectively through diet.The exhibition included demonstrations on food labelling of packaged products and how to read and understand nutritional information. Charts on nutrition in various diseased conditions and methods to manage nutritional deficiencies were also displayed.The Principal, Dr. Sr. Shyji, appreciated the students’ knowledge and encouraged them to showcase healthy food recipes as well. Dr. P.K. Jayalakshmi delivered a talk on healthy diet and healthy living, while Dr. P. Mary Anupama, program coordinator, explained the importance of understanding portion sizes, calorie intake, and their relation to BMI.The program was also graced by Dr. Sr. Hema, Dr. Mousami Shankar, Dr. Manikya Kumari, Dr. Harini, Dr. Deepthi, Dr. Rosina George, Dr. Veerabrahmam, along with faculty from the Departments of English, Commerce, and Management.
