The two-day “Excelsior” celebrations at St. Joseph’s College for Women, Visakhapatnam, began on a vibrant and cheerful note on Friday, the 24th, according to Principal Dr. Sr. Shyji.The inaugural ceremony, held in the college premises at 10 a.m., was graced by Mr. Lalit Bohra, IRTS, Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair Division, as the chief guest. The Principal Dr. Sr. Shyji, Coordinator Dr. T. Bhaskara Sudha, and PRO Prof. Dr. P. K. Jayalakshmi, along with the guest, jointly lit the ceremonial lamp and released balloons to mark the commencement of the fest.Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest said —“It is an honor to be part of this youth festival organized for the welfare and empowerment of talented underprivileged students.This institution not only excels in academic progress but also places great emphasis on the cultural and social development of its students — which is truly commendable.

Later, students enthralled the audience with their performances in various competitions, including classical, western, and folk dances, songs, and mime acts.On this occasion, Prof. Dr. P. K. Jayalakshmi remarked,“It is remarkable that students from more than 60 colleges across the city have participated in this event.”
Council advisors Dr. Sujatha, Dr. Mousumi, Dr. Koteswara Rao, Pratyusha, Sr. Deepali, Vice Principal Sr. Hema, Sr. Mary, Nancy, along with teaching and non-teaching staff, and over 4,000 students participated enthusiastically, making the first day of the fest a grand success.
