GST 2.0 Heralds a New Era of Economic Transformation in India* Double Engine Governance Bringing ‘Double Benefits’ to the People Visakhapatnam Emerges as a Hub of Industrial and IT Growth under Naidu–Modi Leadership _— Palla Srinivasa Rao, State President, TDP & MLA, Gajuwaka_

Gajuwaka, October 5:*Describing the Union Government’s announcement of GST 2.0 as a “historic milestone in India’s economic evolution,” Telugu Desam Party (TDP) State President and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao said the initiative fulfils Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assurance to the nation and marks the beginning of a profound shift towards greater financial inclusion and improved living standards.

Addressing a large gathering during a rally in Gajuwaka, Mr. Srinivasa Rao remarked that GST 2.0 has effectively turned this festive season—coinciding with Dasara and Deepavali—into a true “festival of economic relief” for millions of Indian households. He said that in Andhra Pradesh, under the steady and reform-driven governance of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the synergy between the Centre and the State—the so-called “double engine government”—is translating into “double benefits” for the people.

Highlighting the impact of the new tax regime, Mr. Srinivasa Rao noted that vehicle sales have surged following reductions in car and two-wheeler prices. “At a time when India is emerging as both an economic and military power under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, it is vital that we continue to prioritise indigenous manufacturing and domestic products,” he asserted.

The TDP leader said GST 2.0 would directly benefit the poor, the middle class, farmers, and students alike. Reduced tax rates on essential commodities, healthcare, education, and agricultural tools—along with the complete waiver of tax on life-saving drugs and the 5% cap on other medicines—will, he said, “provide a renewed sense of security and stability to the common man.”

Turning to industrial revival, Mr. Srinivasa Rao pointed out that both the Central and State Governments are working in tandem to rejuvenate the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, with a ₹14,000-crore revival package already under implementation. Of this, ₹9,500 crore has been disbursed, enabling increased production and laying “a strong foundation for the plant’s resurgence.” The initiative, he said, will play a pivotal role in strengthening
