Kathanjali’ Story Anthology and Seminar Proceedings Released under the Aegis of Language Departments
Visakhapatnam: A National Seminar on “The Literary Contributions of Women Writers in Post–Independence Telugu–Hindi Literature” was inaugurated grandly on October 8 at 9:30 a.m. in the Seminar Hall of St. Joseph’s College for Women, under the auspices of the Language Departments.
The event was presided over by the College Principal, Dr. Sr. Shyji P.D. The chief guest, Prof. V. Balamohan Das, President of Gandhi Centre and former Vice-Chancellor of Acharya Nagarjuna University, formally inaugurated the seminar. The guests lit the ceremonial lamp to mark the auspicious beginning of the event.The seminar convener, Dr. P.K. Jayalakshmi, College PRO and former Head of the Second Language Department, delivered the welcome address and outlined the aims and objectives of the seminar. Dr. S. Krishna Babu, President of WAJA–AP, graced the occasion as Guest of Honour.
The keynote address was delivered by eminent literary scholar Dr. D.V. Suryarao, who analyzed in depth the distinctive features of women’s writings and the significance of literary genres in post-independence Telugu–Hindi literature.During the inaugural session, the guests released ‘Kathanjali’, a Telugu short story anthology authored by Dr. P.K. Jayalakshmi, as well as the Seminar Proceedings compiled for the occasion. Prominent literary figures were also felicitated.
Dr. T. Bhaskara Sudha compered the programme and Dr. Mousami shankar proposed the vote of thanks.
More than 70 professors, research scholars, faculty members, and Rajbhasha officers from various universities participated in the seminar and presented research papers on the contributions of women writers in post-independence Telugu–Hindi literaturefaculty members from the Second Language Department, including Dr. J. Nirmala, Dr. S. Deepti, Dr. Koteswara Rao, and Venkata Ratnam, were also present.
