The closing ceremony of the National Conference on Women Writers was grandly held on October 9th at 4:00 PM in the Seminar Hall of St. Joseph’s Women’s College, Visakhapatnam. The conference was organized by the Language Departments of the college on the theme “Literary Contributions of Women Writers in Post-Independence Telugu-Hindi Literature.”The college principal, Dr. Sister Shyji P.D., presided over the event. The special guests included the President of the Writers’ Academy and editor of Leader Daily, Mr. V.V. Ramana Murthy. Prof. N. Satyanarayana, Head of the Hindi Department at Andhra University, attended as the distinguished guest, and Dr. T. Satyanarayana from the Telugu Department of Adikavi Nannaya University was present as the honored guest.The conference convener and college PRO, Dr. P.K. Jayalakshmi, coordinated the event. Dr. Seetharatnam, Dr. Kanakamahalakshmi, Pebbili Haim, and Dr. Vijayabharati delivered detailed speeches on the literary contributions of women writers and their contemporary social and cultural significance.In their addresses, the guests appreciated the discussions on the literary works of women writers that took place at the conference and expressed happiness over new perspectives that emerged. They expressed a hope that such literary conferences would be held on a broader scale in the future.
