Visakhapatnam: A huge summit was organized by Medicover Hospitals today at the Novatel Hotel in Visakhapatnam to create awareness on brain stroke treatment with the lighting of the lamp by several doctors. Inaugurating the program, Dr. Shivshankar Dalai, Chief of Neurovascular Intervention, said that the topics of modern treatments available for brain stroke, new medical technologies and how to use them were discussed extensively in this summit.
He said that this program is being organized across the country with the slogan “UM Stroke Update” and is getting a good response from the people. He said that 350 senior and junior doctors from different parts of Andhra Pradesh participated in this program.
Dr. Dalai said that it is very important to identify brain stroke on time through the FAST method (Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty, Time to call emergency) and immediately take it to the hospital. In a heart stroke, the patient feels the pain, but in a brain stroke, the patient does not feel it, so the vigilance of the family members is very important.
Dr. Uday S. Limai, Dr. Mathew Charan, Dr. Aravind Verma Datla and other senior neurologists participated in this program and shared their advice and suggestions
