a historic milestone in cancer treatment in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and surrounding areas, Medicover Hospitals in Visakhapatnam has successfully completed 100 highly complex robotic cancer surgeries. This is a significant step forward in providing high-precision, state-of-the-art cancer care locally, said Chief Consultant Surgical Oncologist & Robotic Surgeon Dr. V. Karthik Chandra. Addressing a media conference organized at Medicover Hospital, Venkojipalem on Sunday afternoon, he said that 396 robotic surgeries have been performed in the past year, out of which 100 were robotic onco-surgeries. He said that he has been leading this ambitious robotic surgical program. He said that these surgeries were performed using one of the most advanced robotic systems, the 4th generation 'da Vinci X' robotic surgical platform, and that the system's high-definition 3D vision and exceptional flexibility allow for the highest precision even in the most delicate deep spaces. This advanced technology has become a boon for patients in difficult situations, such as elderly patients, obese patients, complex pelvic, and deep tumors. "Our goal is to provide world-class, minimally-invasive cancer surgery with the highest precision and safety standards. This milestone of 100 robotic onco-surgeries is a testament to the dedication of our team, the trust of patients and colleagues, and the advancement of cancer care in Vizag," he said. The surgeries performed so far include uterine (endometrial) cancer surgeries, gastrointestinal cancer surgeries, and thyroid surgeries. Compared to traditional open surgery, the robotic approach offers significant benefits to patients, including less pain, less bleeding, fewer complications, faster recovery, and shorter hospital stay, helping patients return to their normal lives sooner.

Later, Urologist Dr. Chodisetti Subbarao said that his department has performed more than 60 robotic surgeries so far, and that the program is supported by a team of anaesthetists, nursing professionals, and technicians, and Dr. Karthik Chandra has been the best support for this. He trained at the prestigious Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai. He has extensive experience in laparoscopic robotic surgeries.
Later, Dr. Kiranmayi Gottapu, Senior Consultant Obstetrician-Gynecologist at Medicover Hospitals, said that with the help of Dr. Karthik Chandra's team, many robotic surgeries have been successfully performed, especially hysterectomy, myomectomy, endometriosis treatment, and ovarian cyst removal. She said that this advanced technology will enable safe and effective treatment even for complex gynecological conditions. On this occasion, the management of Medicover Hospitals congratulated Dr. Karthik Chandra and his team. Dr. Swarna, Medicover Center Head Arun Kumar and others participated in this meeting.
