The Department of Agricultural and Rural Development, St. Joseph’s College for Women (Autonomous), organized Women Farmers’ Day on Thursday with great enthusiasm. Chief Guest Dr. P.K. Jayalakshmi, PRO of the College, stated that this day is specially observed to recognize and honour the vital role of women in the agricultural sector.She appreciated the hard work, perseverance, and dedication of women farmers, who contribute significantly to India’s agricultural system while balancing responsibilities both in the fields and at home.As part of the programme, the students of the Department presented a powerful skit depicting the strength, resilience, and invaluable services of women farmers. They also recited original poems highlighting the courage, responsibility, and leadership qualities of women in farming.Department incharge Mrs. Urmila stated that the objective of the event was to encourage creative expression among students, honour the remarkable contributions of women in agriculture, and promote awareness about gender equality in the farming community.Faculty members Tejaswini, Ranjitha, Srinu, Dhanunjaya, Satya, Vinodhini, and several others participated in the programme
