VISAKHAPATNAM, FEB 1, 2026:*Welcoming the Union Budget 2026, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) State president Palla Srinivasa Rao said the fiscal proposals closely mirror the long-term development vision consistently articulated by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, particularly in the areas of infrastructure creation, technology-driven growth and sustainable economic expansion.

He said the Budget, framed around the national objective of Viksit Bharat @ 2047, offers a coherent policy roadmap that balances fiscal discipline with growth imperatives. The emphasis on youth, women, farmers, MSMEs and marginalised communities, he observed, reflects an inclusive development approach that has been central to the Chief Minister’s governance philosophy.

Mr. Srinivasa noted that sustained investments in infrastructure, industry, environmental protection, innovation and skill development strengthen confidence in India’s trajectory towards becoming the world’s third-largest economy, while laying durable foundations for future generations.

*Andhra Pradesh Gains from Infrastructure and Logistics Push*

Highlighting the implications for Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Rao said the ₹12.2 lakh crore allocation for public capital expenditure, along with proposals for new freight corridors, expansion of inland waterways and promotion of seaplane services, would significantly strengthen the State’s logistics ecosystem and port-led growth strategy.

The focus on the Visakhapatnam–Kakinada port corridor, he said, aligns with Mr. Naidu’s long-standing vision of positioning Andhra Pradesh as a critical gateway for global and regional trade, particularly with Southeast Asia.

*Polavaram and Agrarian Security*

The allocation of ₹3,320 crore for the Polavaram irrigation project underlines the Centre’s recognition of the project’s strategic importance, Mr. Rao said. Once completed, the project would provide assured irrigation, enhance water security and deliver long-term stability to the State’s agrarian economy.

*Rare Earth Minerals and Industrial Expansion*

Mr. Rao described the identification of Andhra Pradesh as a Rare Earth Minerals corridor as a strategically significant decision. The move is expected to attract investments in mining, processing, research and value addition, while reducing India’s dependence on critical imports.

The proposed establishment of three chemical parks and the emphasis on plug-and-play industrial infrastructure, he said, would further strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s manufacturing ecosystem.

*Electronics, Semiconductors and Advanced Manufacturing*

The ₹40,000 crore allocation for electronics components manufacturing and the rollout of Semiconductor India Mission 2.0 are expected to benefit established clusters such as Sri City. Measures to promote indigenous manufacturing of tunnel-boring machines and advanced firefighting equipment would enhance self-reliance in infrastructure development.

*Biopharma, Healthcare and Medical Education*

The ₹10,000 crore Bio-Pharma Shakti initiative, Mr. Rao said, would accelerate India’s efforts to emerge as a global biologics hub while providing fresh momentum to Visakhapatnam’s pharma and life sciences sector, a domain consistently prioritised by the Chief Minister.

*Tourism, Fisheries and the Rural Economy*

The proposals to develop eco-friendly mountain circuits in the Araku Valley and bird-watching trails around Pulicat Lake reflect a shift towards sustainable tourism, balancing environmental conservation with employment generation.

In the fisheries sector, the development of 500 reservoirs and strengthening of coastal value chains would further consolidate Andhra Pradesh’s position as the country’s leading marine food exporter. Programmes for high-value crops such as coconut, cashew and cocoa would support income growth in coastal regions.

*MSMEs, Urban Growth and Fiscal Federalism*

The ₹10,000 crore MSME Growth Fund would provide critical support to small and medium enterprises, a key driver of employment. Allocations of ₹5,000 crore per city over five years for City Economic Regions in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities are expected to transform Vijayawada, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam into regional growth centres.

Enhanced transfers to States and local bodies under the Finance Commission framework would strengthen district-level governance and disaster-management capacity, Mr. Rao added.

Concluding, Mr. Rao said the Union Budget 2026 is not merely a statement of accounts but a policy document that charts India’s economic direction. With its integrated focus on green energy, semiconductors, biopharma, artificial intelligence, data centres, tourism and agriculture, the Budget places Andhra Pradesh—under the leadership and long-term vision of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu—at the centre of the country’s growth narrative.
