From Hi-Tech to AI–Quantum: Chandrababu Naidu’s Vision Reads the Future Before It Arrives — Palla Srinivasa Rao

Amaravati, March 7:As the present generation grows within a world shaped by high technology, the coming generations will inhabit an ecosystem powered almost entirely by artificial intelligence and quantum computing. Anticipating this technological transformation well ahead of its time, Andhra Pradesh is being methodically prepared for that future under the far-sighted leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, said Telugu Desam Party State President Palla Srinivasa Rao.

Reflecting on the lessons of global history, Mr. Rao observed that one enduring truth emerges with clarity: societies that fail to evolve with time quietly fade into the margins of history, while those that anticipate change early shape the course of the world itself. From the agricultural revolution to the industrial age, and later to the information technology era, it has invariably been the nations that recognised and embraced these shifts ahead of others that secured enduring global influence.

*The World at the Threshold of the Quantum Revolution*

According to Mr. Rao, the world now stands at another historic inflection point—one defined by the rise of quantum computing. At a time when intense technological competition is unfolding between innovation hubs such as Silicon Valley in the United States and emerging centres in China, the decision to establish a Quantum Valley in Amaravati represents far more than a developmental initiative.

Rather, it is a bold strategic step aimed at positioning India at the forefront of the technological competition that will define the coming century, he said.

*From Hi-Tech City to Quantum Valley*

Mr. Rao recalled that it was Mr. Chandrababu Naidu who, decades earlier, laid the foundations for India’s IT revolution through the establishment of HITEC City in Hyderabad. What was once a visionary leap that propelled an entire generation into the digital age is today echoed in another forward-looking initiative—the creation of Amaravati Quantum Valley.

The project, he remarked, stands as a digital signature of the State’s commitment to the technologies that will shape the future world.

*National Leadership, Global Direction*

Mr. Rao noted that the emergence of Quantum Valley in Amaravati reflects the confluence of national resolve and strategic leadership. The public vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the decades of administrative experience of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, the commitment of Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and the modern policy approach of Minister Nara Lokesh together laid the groundwork for this ambitious initiative.

He added that early consultations held by Mr. Lokesh with global technology leaders such as IBM and Google during the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 2025 provided critical momentum for the project.

Mr. Rao emphasised that while Mr. Lokesh played a key role in projecting Amaravati as a future technology destination, Mr. Naidu’s political acumen and governance experience elevated the initiative to national prominence. Under the Chief Minister’s directions, the Chief Minister’s Office coordinated multiple departments to accelerate approvals and institutional partnerships, including key agreements with global technology firms.

*A New Chapter in Amaravati’s History*

These efforts culminated in what Mr. Rao described as a historic milestone for Amaravati. On February 7, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh jointly laid the foundation stone for the Amaravati Quantum Valley facility at Uddandarayunipalem in Thullur mandal, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the State’s technological journey.

The centre, being developed in collaboration with global firms such as IBM, TCS, and L&T, is expected to host India’s first 133-qubit quantum computer. Construction of the facility is targeted for completion by August, with operational rollout scheduled by December.

*Global Opportunities for the Youth*

Mr. Rao said the project is not merely about building technological infrastructure but about unlocking high-value global opportunities for the youth of Andhra Pradesh. By expanding beyond conventional employment avenues, the initiative is expected to reduce brain drain and usher in an era of “brain gain,” where talent finds opportunities within the State itself.

He pointed out that nearly 54,000 students have already enrolled in quantum technology training programmes—an indicator of the growing enthusiasm among young learners for emerging technologies.

*Global Confidence in Andhra Pradesh*

The momentum behind the State’s quantum ambitions is already evident, Mr. Rao said. Medha Towers in Gannavaram has rapidly evolved into a hub for international technology firms.

Nearly 30 leading companies, including QClairvoyance, Qubits, Cybranex, Quantum AI Global, Qubitech, and Quanfluence, have begun operations there, reflecting global confidence in the State’s technological vision. Their presence, he remarked, underscores the belief that when Chandrababu Naidu charts a technological direction, global industry inevitably takes notice.

*The Quantum Computing Breakthrough*

Mr. Rao described quantum computing as a transformative leap in computational science. While conventional computers process information through binary bits, quantum systems operate using qubits, enabling them to represent both 0 and 1 simultaneously. This property allows quantum machines to perform complex calculations at speeds previously unimaginable.

Problems that might take conventional systems centuries to solve could potentially be resolved within minutes by quantum computers, opening revolutionary possibilities in fields ranging from drug discovery to cybersecurity.

*Towards a Global Knowledge Hub*

With the establishment of Quantum Valley, Amaravati is poised to emerge as a global knowledge hub, Mr. Rao said. Just as the IT revolution once reshaped the State’s economic landscape, the coming quantum era could position Andhra Pradesh as a technological compass for the world.

Beyond technology, the initiative is expected to have far-reaching economic implications. High-value industries, research-driven investments, and knowledge-intensive enterprises are likely to expand in the region, laying the foundations for an economy where innovation and knowledge themselves become the primary sources of wealth.

Recalling the skepticism that once surrounded the launch of Hyderabad’s HITEC City in 1998, Mr. Rao said that decision eventually ushered an entire generation into the IT era. Today, the same foresight is visible again in the creation of Amaravati Quantum Valley.

The leader who once opened the doors to the IT revolution, he remarked, is now preparing the State for the even faster-moving AI–Quantum age.

History, Mr. Rao concluded, has repeatedly shown that societies which fail to recognise technological change inevitably fall behind. Time waits for no one, he said. The question before any society is simple: whether it runs with the pace of change, or allows change to leave it behind.

In that context, Amaravati Quantum Valley represents Andhra Pradesh’s confident answer to the future.
