Jagan Reddy once again misleading the public with data allegedly fabricated at Tadepalli Palace ▪️ Distorting even the CAG report and spreading falsehoods through his own media ▪️ After weakening institutions for personal interests during his tenure, Jagan Reddy has now launched a new political drama _*— TDP State President and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao*_
Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that despite the responsibility to engage in democratic debate in the Assembly, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy chose to bypass the forum and make statements before his own media network, allegedly distorting facts and misrepresenting even the findings of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG). Avoiding discussion on public issues in the Assembly and instead reading out what appeared to be a pre-prepared script produced by Sakshi newspaper, he said, reflected the declining standards of political accountability.
The TDP leader further alleged that Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy attended the Assembly with what he described as the “Team-11 batch” only until the Governor’s address before walking out, thereby betraying the people who had elected him to represent them. He also accused the YSRCP leadership of orchestrating disruptions in the Legislative Council through its MLCs and issuing instructions from Tadepalli for them to withdraw from proceedings whenever discussions were scheduled.
Attempt to mislead people with ‘Tadepalli-manufactured data’
Mr. Srinivasa Rao alleged that Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy was attempting to mislead the public by presenting figures prepared at the Tadepalli residence as though they were part of the official CAG7 report.
He said the former Chief Minister, who presided over what he described as five years of financial devastation, was now attempting to distort the CAG report in order to conceal the damage caused to the State’s finances during the YSRCP regime.
Referring to the CAG report for the 2024-25 financial year, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said the report recorded borrowings amounting to ₹81,071 crore, a substantial portion of which had been incurred during the previous government’s tenure. Nearly ₹27,205 crore, he noted, had been borrowed during the months of April and May alone under the YSRCP administration.
According to official figures, the State’s overall debt had reached nearly ₹9.74 lakh crore during the five years of YSRCP rule, he said.
He further stated that the borrowings included ₹4.38 lakh crore through the Reserve Bank of India, ₹2.48 lakh crore through government corporations, and nearly ₹80,000 crore under public account liabilities.
In addition, pending bills owed to contractors and welfare schemes stood at around ₹1.13 lakh crore, while arrears payable to government employees amounted to ₹21,980 crore. The liabilities of the Civil Supplies Corporation and power distribution companies together were estimated at nearly ₹70,000 crore, he added.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that while Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy repeatedly claimed that his government had borrowed only ₹3 lakh crore, he remained silent about borrowings raised through corporations and loans backed by government guarantees.
‘State weakened in the name of welfare’
Mr. Srinivasa Rao alleged that the YSRCP government had severely weakened the State’s financial position in the name of welfare while completely neglecting development.
He said that even basic infrastructure such as roads had been ignored during the previous regime. The excise policy followed during the YSRCP tenure, he claimed, had resulted in the proliferation of spurious liquor, putting people’s lives at risk.
The TDP leader also accused the previous government of promoting a culture of corruption and patronage. “The governance model effectively became one of ‘loot, distribute and consume’,” he said, alleging that land encroachments were encouraged across districts while administrative institutions were systematically weakened.
‘No moral authority to speak about women’s safety’
Mr. Srinivasa Rao said Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy had no moral authority to speak about women’s welfare or safety. He alleged that even incidents of atrocities against women in areas close to the former Chief Minister’s own constituency had not been addressed effectively during the YSRCP regime.
In contrast, he said the present coalition government had accorded the highest priority to women’s safety and warned that strict action would be taken against those responsible for crimes against women.
‘YSRCP deceived Anganwadi workers’
Mr. Srinivasa Rao also rejected the YSRCP’s claims regarding Anganwadi welfare. He pointed out that it was the government led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu between 2014 and 2019 that had progressively increased Anganwadi workers’ salaries to ₹11,500.
Under the present coalition government, he said, 5,000 Anganwadi assistants had been recruited, 5G smartphones distributed, and gratuity benefits enhanced.
Of the ten demands raised by Anganwadi workers, he said nine had already been resolved by the current administration. The public had not forgotten, he added, the incidents during the YSRCP regime in which Anganwadi workers protesting in Vijayawada were allegedly dragged on the streets.
‘State moving from crisis towards development’
Mr. Srinivasa Rao said the people of Andhra Pradesh clearly understood the difference between responsible governance and political theatrics.
He attributed the renewed inflow of investments into the State to the vision and credibility of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, noting that several companies which had left the State during the previous administration were now preparing to return.
“The State, which suffered severe financial damage over the past five years, is now being steered towards development within just twenty-two months under the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu,” he said.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao concluded by asserting that attempts to mislead the public with what he described as “fabricated data prepared at the Tadepalli Palace” would ultimately fail, as the facts surrounding the State’s financial situation would inevitably come to light.
