Nellore, October 30:*Telugu Desam Party (TDP) State President and Gajuwaka MLA, Mr. Palla Srinivasa Rao, has said that, acting on the directions of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the State government began the distribution of ration rice across Andhra Pradesh from October 28 itself — even before Cyclone Montha made landfall. In a statement released on Thursday, Mr. Srinivasa Rao urged beneficiaries to make full use of the ration supplies made available through fair price shops and Mandal-level stock points (MLS). “We have ensured adequate stocks of essential commodities at every depot so that no family faces scarcity during these trying times,” he said. The State has 1.46 crore ration card holders and about 29,000 ration depots, he noted, adding that only 9.77% of beneficiaries had collected their rations so far. Citizens dissatisfied with the distribution process, he advised, may register their grievances through the toll-free number 1967.Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that the government has acted with remarkable speed in mitigating the impact of Cyclone Montha. “Each affected family is being provided with 25 kilograms of rice, one kilogram each of red gram dal, onions, potatoes, and sugar, along with one litre of cooking oil. Additionally, an ex gratia of ₹3,000 per family has been announced,” he stated. Fishermen families are being given 50 kilograms of rice as additional relief.Drawing a contrast with the previous YSRCP regime, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said the TDP government was extending comprehensive and transparent relief rather than the “half-hearted and selective approach” of the past. “Despite the magnitude of this cyclone, we averted the loss of even a single life — thanks to the foresight and leadership of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and IT Minister Nara Lokesh,” he observed. He added that leaders from neighbouring States have praised Mr. Naidu’s proactive handling of the situation, “while YSRCP leaders, instead of empathising with the victims, seem to be waiting for tragedies to exploit politically.”

Expressing satisfaction over the public’s response, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said citizens were appreciative of the government’s swift action. “We are also conducting a detailed assessment of crop damage and will extend support to all affected farmers,” he assured.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao further lauded TDP cadres for their tireless participation in relief and rescue operations. “Our party workers braved the torrential rains to evacuate residents and provide essential aid. Their spirit of service stands as a testament to the values our party upholds,” he said.
