Addressing the media, TDP State president and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao said political debate must be anchored in criticism of policies and performance, not in personal vilification. “What was said today goes far beyond political criticism. It amounts to a deliberate attempt to demean a leader who has devoted decades of tireless service to the State and who is widely regarded as a visionary with a long public record,” he said.
Mr. Rao observed that the language employed reflected a disturbing disregard for political decorum and public responsibility. “Such repeated lapses into coarse and intemperate speech have, unfortunately, become habitual. However, the comments made today strike at something far deeper — they undermine the self-respect of the Telugu people,” he said.
He asserted that disparaging Mr. Naidu was not merely an attack on an individual, but an affront to the dignity of millions of Telugus who identify with his contribution to the State’s development. Warning that the party would not remain a mute spectator, Mr. Rao said the TDP viewed the remarks with utmost seriousness.
The TDP State president demanded that Ambati Rambabu withdraw his statements immediately and tender an unconditional public apology. “Until he acknowledges the gravity of his actions and apologises openly, we will continue to pursue this issue both politically and publicly,” Mr. Rao said.
