A three-day national seminar titled “Quantum Computing for Gen-Z” was successfully organized from February 23 to 25, 2026, under the aegis of the Quantum Innovation Center newly established at the Rushikonda campus of Gayatri Vidya Parishad College for Degree and PG Courses, Visakhapatnam.The seminar was conducted with the objective of creating awareness, fostering interest, and developing a research-oriented mindset among students in the field of advanced quantum technologies.This seminar marked the first major academic initiative of the Quantum Innovation Center. The inaugural session was graced by distinguished dignitaries including Prof. P. V. Sharma, Member, Gayatri Vidya Parishad; Prof. K. S. Bose, Principal; and Prof. P. V. Vinay, Dean of Engineering, along with Heads of Departments, faculty members, and students. During the inaugural session, the vision, objectives, and future action plan of the Quantum Innovation Center were presented.On the first day, Dr. S. Kanthi Kiran, Associate Professor from Gayatri Vidya Parishad Engineering, delivered a lecture explaining the fundamental concepts of quantum computing in a clear and accessible manner.On the second day, Prof. G. Sudheer, Vice Principal and mathematician, elaborated on complex theoretical concepts in a simplified way, enhancing students’ understanding of advanced topics.On the third day, Prof. P. Swapna, Head and Assistant Principal, Department of Instrument Technology, Andhra University Engineering, connected theoretical knowledge with practical applications and provided guidance on higher education opportunities, internships, and future career prospects in the field.
In the valedictory session, the Convener, Dr. Sridevi, presented the seminar report and highlighted the objectives achieved and outcomes of the program. The innovative initiative undertaken by the Quantum Innovation Center was highly appreciated by the guests. Certificates were distributed to all participating students.
The seminar was attended by Prof. Pragada Raja Ganapathi, Member, Gayatri Vidya Parishad; Principal Prof. Bose; Dean of Engineering Prof. P. V. Vinay; Sri D. Giridhar, YG Director; Heads of various departments; faculty members; and a total of 196 students from different disciplines who actively participated with great enthusiasm.The program was successful in significantly enhancing students’ awareness and interest in emerging technological domains such as quantum computing.
