The Department of Botany, St. Joseph’s College for Women (Autonomous), organized a one-day National Workshop on “AI-Driven Computational Biology Approaches in the Life Sciences” on February 6.The inaugural session was presided over by the Principal, Dr. Sr. Shyji P.D., who highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence in life sciences education and research. Dr. Harini, Head of the Department of Zoology, introduced the chief guest, while Dr. M. Padma Sundari welcomed the gathering.The Convener, Dr. K. Manikya Kumari, stated that the objective of the workshop was to create awareness among students, faculty members, and researchers about recent advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Computational Biology and their applications in life sciences research.The resource person, Prof. R. Satyanarayana, Head, Department of Biomedical Sciences, Apollo University, Chittoor, delivered analytical lectures on AI-driven computational tools and their significance in life sciences research.Over 85 delegates, including professors, lecturers, research scholars, and students from various states, participated in the workshop. Of these, 50 attended in person and 35 participated online, according to PRO Dr. P. K. Jayalakshmi.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. K. Manikya Kumari, with the support of co-coordinators Dr. M. Padma Sundari, Dr. Sr. Hema, and Dr. N. Nagaraj.
