St. Joseph’s College Launches Free Online Course on “Professional Communication in Practice” – Department of English
The course was formally inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. Sr. Shyji, along with Dr. Sr. Hema. In their address, they encouraged students to actively enroll in the programme and make effective use of the opportunity by gaining practical inputs that would enhance their academic and professional growth. They appreciated the Department of English for its continued efforts in introducing skill-based learning initiatives.
Speaking on the occasion, Course Coordinator , the Head of the Department of English, Dr. Bhaskara Sudha, outlined the key objectives of the course. She stated that the programme is designed to equip students with essential professional communication skills required in workplace and academic settings. The course comprises seven comprehensive modules, covering areas such as workplace communication, presentation skills, interview techniques, email etiquette, professional conduct, and confidence building.
This initiative follows the successful completion of the department’s first online course on Effective Communication Skills, marking another significant step in promoting accessible and career-oriented education.
The faculty members — K. Prameela Rani, Dr. Tonia Grace, Dr. Sudha Priya, Madhuri P., and P. Veena Spandana — contributed extensively to the design and development of the modules and shared their valuable insights during the launch. They encouraged students to participate enthusiastically and benefit from the practical learning experience.
The course will be conducted from February 25 to March 25, 2026, and is offered free of cost to all students. Faculty members from other departments congratulated the Department of English for organizing the programme and lauded the initiative as a commendable step toward enhancing students’ professional competencies.
