two-day National Workshop on “Latest Trends in Mathematical Sciences” was inaugurated on 27th February 2026 at St. Joseph’s College for Women (Autonomous).
The Science Academies Education Programme Lecture Workshop was organized jointly by the Departments of Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, and IQAC exclusively for UG and PG students.
The inaugural session was presided over by the Principal, Dr. Sr. Shyji. The Chief Guest, Prof. G. P. Rajasekhar, Vice Chancellor of Andhra University, delivered the keynote address. The Workshop Convenor and Guest of Honour, Prof. Gadadhar Misra from the Indian Statistical Institute, graced the occasion.The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Capt. K. Sujatha, Head, Department of Mathematics & Statistics.
In his keynote address, Prof. G. P. Rajasekhar emphasized the importance of Mathematical Sciences in research and interdisciplinary applications. He encouraged UG and PG students to make the best use of the opportunity to learn from eminent professors representing prestigious institutions across the country.Prof. Gadadhar Misra explained the objectives of the workshop and stated that the programme aimed to expose students to recent developments and advanced topics in Mathematics.The technical sessions featured lectures by:
• Prof. Gadadhar Misra – Indian Statistical Institute, Bengaluru
• Prof. P. D. N. Srinivasu – Andhra University
• Dr. Durga Prasad Challa – Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati
• Prof. K. Srinivas – The Institute of Mathematical Sciences
Faculty members from the Departments of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science actively participated along with the 124 students. Among the faculty present during the inaugural session were Dr. Krishna Kumari, Dr. P. K. Jayalakshmi, Veena, Dr. Harini, Dr. Sudha, and Dr. Sr. Hema.The inaugural programme concluded successfully.
