 Amaravati, March 27:* The coalition government has welcomed the Union government’s decision to reduce excise duty on petrol and diesel, with Telugu Desam Party State president Palla Srinivasa Rao describing it as a timely and people-centric intervention. He observed that, in times of economic strain, the willingness to take decisive steps to alleviate the burden on citizens reflects the Centre’s commitment to public welfare. Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said such measures underscore a leadership marked by foresight and resolve.

At a time when rising global fuel prices have prompted several countries to pass on the burden to consumers, India’s decision to prioritise relief for its people stands out as a reflection of the NDA government’s citizen-first approach, Mr. Srinivasa Rao noted. He remarked that leadership is truly tested during periods of uncertainty, and that the Centre’s calibrated responses have contributed to maintaining stability and reinforcing public confidence.

Commending the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, he said the latter’s administrative acumen and long-term vision have enabled the State to balance welfare imperatives with fiscal prudence. The prompt endorsement of the Centre’s decision, coupled with efforts to ensure that its benefits reach the people of Andhra Pradesh, reflects a governance model anchored in responsiveness and efficiency, he added.
