*Operational & Performance Milestones*
Waltair Division achieved historic freight and passenger records, including: Waltair Division has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing all the loading targets and achieved 85.1 Million Tonnes for the first time in any financial year despite several constraints. This remarkable feat was accomplished a historic moment for the division. This showed a growth of 17.25% than previous FY.
Crossing 150 MT handling of goods both loading and unloading is also a record which is 17.4% higher than last FY
Ranking 5th in Indian Railways for earnings and loading, with ₹10422.56crore revenue and with a growth of 18.75% growth in revenue over last year Waltair Division sets all time record.
This financial year Passenger traffic rose to 33.42 million, registering 6.6% growth, thus generating Best ever passenger revenue in last 21 years to the tune of ₹881.37 crores showing a raise of 8.71% over last year
Total Division’s revenue achieved is ₹11,598.07 crores which is 17% higher than last FY for the same period.
We are also best performers in Catering Rs 9.81Crores, Non-Fare Revenue Rs 11.14crores, Ticket Checking Rs 26.21 Crores, Parking Rs 4.26crores and Sundry revenue Rs27.63 Crores.
The Division received a Platinum-rated Green Railway Station Certification for Visakhapatnam, and national recognition for ELS/Visakhapatnam in the BLW Electric Loco “Beauty Contest.”

Significant increase in Railway Budget allocation for states under Waltair Division: (2026–27)

New Railway Officers’ Residential Complex inaugurated at Vaisakhi Railway Colony, Visakhapatnam.

More than 400 Additional coaches and more than 300 special trains operated during festivals, vacations to manage passenger rush.
Experimental stoppage of Tilaru , Harischandrapuram, Pathapatnam Stations to improve connectivity and passenger conveyance.
Advanced charting system for waitlisted tickets implemented for improved passenger convenience.
We are regularizing the 2 special trains that are till now running as special trains to weekly, One VSKP-TPTY specials as weekly train from 1st April and VSKP-Charlapalli from 3rd April. Three more trains VSKP-SMVB, VSKP-Kollam and another VSKP-TPTY will be regularized soon.
Introduction of sleeping pods at Visakhapatnam station to enhance passenger comfort.
Two exclusive OSOP stalls have been set up at Araku (Andhra Pradesh) and Koraput (Odisha) railway stations to showcase the renowned Araku and Koraput Coffee brands.
*Infrastructure Growth and New Projects* Major rail-infrastructure works progressed rapidly, including doubling on key sections and commissioning of over 380 km of double line by January-2026.
Foundation stones and inaugurations worth over ₹1,200crore were done by Hon’ble Prime Minister, including fourth lines, rail flyovers, station upgrades, FOBs, platform works and passenger-amenity projects.
*Safety & Operational Excellence*
DRM Safety Awards presented to vigilant railway employees for preventing potential mishaps.
General Manager, East Coast Railway conducted intensive safety inspection in the Silakjhori–Koraput section.
*Technology & Innovation* Introduction of AI-powered Rail Robocop “ASC ARJUN” at Visakhapatnam Railway Station for surveillance and passenger assistance.
The AI system successfully identified and helped apprehend habitual offenders using facial recognition technology.
Commercial advertising contracts on WAP-7 locomotives launched as an innovative non-fare revenue initiative.
220 digital LED display screens at Visakhapatnam station and 24 screens at Vizianagaram station marking a major milestone in railway advertising.

17 employees from Waltair Division received the Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar-2025 and 54 employees felicitated with Rail Seva Purasakar for their outstanding performance.
Waltair Division recorded strong freight and revenue growth, crossing ₹10,000 crore gross revenue.
Six cadets of Bharat Scouts and Guides of Waltair Division were felicitated by President Awards, the highest honour bestowed upon the cadets.

*Women Empowerment:* On the concluding day of the week-long celebrations of International Women’s Day (IWD), the Guntur–Rayagada Express was operated by an all-women crew from Visakhapatnam to Rayagada.
